Job Title: Transfer Station Attendant - Student (MG)
Job Description: Monitors and ensures Municipal residents are disposing of garbage, recyclables, and other waste at the transfer site in an efficient and safe manner in conformity with Trent Lakes policies and all applicable Ontario Regulations and the Environmental Protection Act. -Enforces policies for waste transfer sites -Directs residents to proper areas for waste disposal -Responds to questions from the public regarding waste and recycling -Ensures proper use and maintenance of recycling bins -Maintains building and containers on site as required in a neat and tidy manner -Removes contamination when required -Courteous and aware of public safety onsite at all times -Monitor segregated waste and reuse areas daily to remove unauthorized materials -Check that all refrigeration white goods are tagged verifying that they have been drained. If not tagged, contact Supervisor to have a licensed technician drain and tag the units -Ensure that scavenging and salvaging does not occur

Qualifications: -Currently enrolled in Secondary or Post-Secondary education -Must have reliable transportation -Must have CSA approved safety footwear -Relabile and Punctual work practice -Knowledge of regulations regarding Trent Lakes waste disposal -Expected to use initiative and good judgement with limited supervision -Ability to work in a team environment or independently, with minimum supervision -Strong communication skills -Excellent public relation skills -Strong Health and Safety awareness -Give attention and respect and show an air of confidence and dignity when representing the Municipality
Working Conditions: -Often works outdoors in various weather conditions such as rain, heat, and humidity -Weekend and holiday shifts -Exposure to physical and health hazards -Potential for hostile situations when enforcing policies -Some heavy lifting is involved
