Job Title: Youth Employment Counsellor
Job Description: This position provides life skills, employment counselling and career exploration through group facilitation as well as in a one-to-one setting to at-risk youth between the ages of 15-29. Program Participants: responsible for intake and assessment, recruiting appropriate participants for the program, provide employment counselling, including resume preparation, interview techniques and general job search strategies, provide one-on-one and group counselling to participants relative to enhancing employability and general life skills to support self growth, self awareness, confidence and appropriate work skills, assist participants to connect with other community services relative to their life issues, provide support and job maintenance strategies to participants while on placement, facilitate group activities, develop and maintain positive relationships with program participants providing mentorship and advocacy, effectively deal with participant concerns and unexpected situations.

Pay Rate: $ 23.00 - $ 24.84 Hourly
Days/Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:45 am to 4:45 pm.

Qualifications: Relevant post secondary degree or diploma in social services, employment counselling or social sciences, minimum of 1 year experience working with youth with barriers in a counselling role, proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to learn customized database software, must have experience in group facilitation, excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively handle unforeseen situations as they arise.
